Posted by Seasonal Questions on Sunday, May 28, 2023

Victoria Day is a Canadian holiday that is celebrated on the Monday preceding May 25th every year. It was established as a holiday in the Province of Canada in 1845 and as a national holiday in 1901. The holiday was originally celebrated on May 24th, Queen Victoria’s birthday. But an amendment to the laws of Canada in 1952 established that Victoria Day be observed on the Monday preceding May 25th.

The holiday is also known as May Two-Four, May Long, and May Long Weekend. It is a federal statutory holiday, as well as a holiday in six of Canada's 10 provinces and all three of its territories.
